Alright we are just going to JUMP right in on this one. Since it IS the new year and I know many of you have already made some fitness, weight loss or personal goals for yourself I thought it would be fitting and appropriate to go back through our Client Success Principles. These principles are the guiding posts for making sure our clients achieve the success their are looking for.

Whether you want to lose 10 lbs, run a marathon this year or simply become a better wife or husband, you need to follow some basic principles to success. As an added bonus I am going to give you a handout you can download to print off at the beginning of each week to get you set up to rock it!

First and foremost you need to

#1) Establish WHAT it is you want. You have to get crystal clear on it! Saying you want to “lose some weight this year” is not enough. Want to get stronger? OK … good start but you need more than that. How much weight do you want to lose? How will you measure being stronger? By When? Why is it important? What’s it going to feel like when you get there?

Does being stronger or faster mean you can finish a race or climb “x” flights of stairs?
BE SPECIFIC and set a time frame to it.

Now the next step is YOU HAVE GOT TO…

#2) Take Personal Responsibility for your actions. YOU determine your actions, your thoughts, your results. Only you.

If you are playing the blame game you aren’t going to get very far. Life is too busy? Work schedule have too much travel in it? Airport food isn’t health right? Unsupportive friends? Guess what that may all be true but unless you own it and make a plan around it, motivation will only get you so far. No one is going to force you to drink another glass of wine or skip a workout. That’s on you. You are going to have to decide to make an early morning workout if the evenings are packed with kids activities. That means making the sacrifice to get to be earlier so you can be fresh in the morning. You are going to have to decide to order a salad or bring food with you when you travel. It’s not going to be easy at first, but it will get easier as you do it more often and the payoff will absolutely be worth it!

If you need a little reminder of this check out my video from last week when I talked about the two kinds of people out there. There are the people with all the “reasons and excuses” in the world and then there are the “doers”. The people who just get it done, even when they don’t feel like it. They aren’t ruled by their “feelings” at the moment or by what others are going to “think of them”. If you are still worried about what your friends will say if you put in a special order at the restaurant then you are going to be stuck where you are for a long time. If you want to look and feel different, then you have to BE different! I know I am on a rant here but seriously – take ownership.

#3) is Commit to Results! With every action you take, you have the power to move closer to your goals or to move further away from them. Every time you choose, you move one way or the other. Here’s the thing. Results come after repeating actions and behaviour over and over again. It’s compounding actions over time. You don’t lose 5 lbs by eating healthy for one meal or one day. You have to be consistent over time. So once you determine WHAT your goal is, think about what actions you need to be doing on a daily basis to get there. If you need help we can certainly coach you through this and hold you accountable but for now I am going to give you this Handout I use with my clients every week.

I call it the Weekly Rhythm Tracker. I like the “Rythym” because it reminds me that I have to keep rythm, flow and consistency to get results. I like the “Tracker” because if you don’t know what you don’t measure and in order to see progress you need to measure performance! That’s why we do monthly body comps, re-assessments and goal setting with clients.

So right now… if you are serious about getting results this year, download and print off the “Weekly Rhythm Tracker” right now. Simply fill in the actions you know you need to do on a daily basis in order to get you from where you are to where you want to be. This sheet comes right out of my personal journal so I am sharing a piece of my personal practice with you. Will you take advantage of it?

Print it off weekly for a month and please comment to let me know how it’s going for you! Our 90 Day LEANOUT is a perfect way to put these principles into action, so make sure you check it out! As always you can follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest happenings around the studio. Here’s to a rocking year ahead!
