Mistake #1: Jumping Into Fads or Quick Fixes
There is always something new and exciting and it seems to be working for everyone! Not to mention, these fad studios are popping up on every corner. The problem we’ve seen is that they come and go. The short term fixes are exciting when you get motivated and excited but it is not sustainable long term! A lot of fads are things that you have to WILL yourself through. Why not find something that you don’t have to rely on willpower to push through? Something that is sustainable for the long term; eating in a way that makes sense for your life and exercises that you like and get consistent results from.
Solution to Mistake #1: Skip the fads and quick fixes and find something sustainable, consistent and long term for lasting results!
Mistake #2: Working with Un[der]qualified Professionals
You know those people who look super fit and have a great body that you see at the gym all the time? They seem like they know what they’re doing, right?
Sure, maybe these people have figured out what works for them but they may not understand you, your body or where you’re at and you could end up injured and – maybe even – working AWAY from your goals.
Solution to Mistake #2: Do your research! Hire someone whose credentials you know and understand, and who have education and training under their belt.

Mistake #3: Going for the Cheapest Coach or Gym Possible
Why pay $500 for a personal trainer when you can pay $30 down the road?? We see this ALL the time. Cheaper is not always better and, most of the time, we get what we pay for!
Big box gyms and establishments rely on volume – pumping in quantity OVER quality, meaning they count on the fact that people will pay for their membership but never use it, (sound familiar?).
We want to work with members who are highly invested in themselves.
Solution to Mistake #3: When you invest financially in a professional – a professional who has also invested in themselves to bring you the best expertise – that’s an investment from BOTH parties. When two people come together who are both invested, the results are amazing.
Mistake #4: Working with Coaches Who are Not Tracking Your Progress
Consistency is KEY! A lot of health coaches give you varied workouts to keep things interesting but if there is no consistency in doing assessments, measuring and tracking of progress and results, how do you know what’s working and what’s not?
If you’re not seeing progress, what’s the point?
Solution to Mistake #4: Before committing somewhere, make sure you ask about how they are tracking your progress. Here at PUSH!FIT, all members have monthly FiFocus sessions with their coach to track progress and check in, and personal training members also have reassessments & new program design every 4-6 weeks.
Mistake #5: Working with a Coach Who Doesn’t Take a Holistic Approach
Being healthy is not just about getting a kick a** workout and feeling so sore you can’t move the next day. You may feel super sore after your first few workouts but, at the end of the day, your workout should ENERGIZE you, not drain you.
If it is draining you, it’s important to look at all aspects of your health. We believe there are 6 main pillars of holistic health and all of them are interrelated and affect the others. They are fitness, nutrition, stress, sleep, lifestyle and mindset.
If you slept 3 hours and come in for a workout should you be doing the same workout as when you had a full, restful 8 hour sleep? No way! Your body is already stressed with fatigue so a heavy workout will stress it more.
We make sure to look at every aspect of optimal health so that all are working together. These things can’t be looked at singularly!
Solution to Mistake #5: Make sure you find a Health Coach who believes in a Holistic approach to health and wellness.
Mistake #6: Working with a Trainer Who Only Knows What Works for Them
A lot of trainers or fitness professionals are guilty of this one… They create an awesome workout for themselves and decide to put their clients through the same thing!
Chances are, you look different, you feel different, you have different injuries and health history and what works for your trainer may not work for you.
Solution to Mistake #6: Ensure you will be getting a custom plan designed for you and your needs.

BUT, if you’re serious about results, you need to be working on a program specific to you. A few things happen when you work in a large group fitness class:
- The program might not suit your needs, it’s not custom!
- Because you’re just another number, no one may notice if you go missing or stop showing up, there is no accountability.
