Job Description

  • Answering and returning phone calls from customers and prospects: Because we are a boutique facility, our front line is critical. Calls that come in are important. You’ll be responsible for answering and returning calls, dealing with customer service issues in a prompt and detailed manner as well as qualifying potential clients.
  • Responding to walk ins, customer service phone calls and emails: Respond to each of these with positive energy and basic scripts provided to you. You need to be comfortable with the phone, communicating clearly with people face to face as well as using email and be a good typist. Filing: Basic stuff to keep up with the paper flow. Manage communication flow, client files both online and on paper system.
  • Web site updates: Ideally, you’ll have excellent technology skills and can do some basic updates to my web sites and blog via a wordpress site, updates to social media sites and other marketing support (we can train you but you must feel comfortable working on a computer and online).

Required Skills

These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

  • We use Apple computers so if you are familiar with Mac or Apple that is great! If not we can train you.
  • Pages/Microsoft Word: you must be very comfortable using Pages for Mac or Microsoft Word.
  • Online Navigation Skills: most of our marketing is done online. You’ll need to be able to make edits/changes when necessary, mostly on Facebook.
  • WordPress: Ability to update blogs and information on site. Very simple using WordPress. Will train.
  • Numbers/Microsoft Excel: you must have basic spreadsheet skills – we don’t do anything advanced with this software, just some simple spreadsheets, but you must be comfortable with both programs. 
  • Excellent Phone Personality/Etiquette: you will be talking with my customers, who are VERY important to me, and prospective customers, who are also important. You must be comfortable conversing on the phone, in person, and through e-mail. You must know how to conduct yourself professionally, take clear messages and deliver clear instructions to the prospect or client. I’ll teach you everything you need to say and do, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.
  • Email: A great deal of your work will be via email. I use a web-based program that’s easy to learn. You need to be very comfortable and proficient with email.
  • Thoughtfulness and Organization: I need you to be able to think for yourself and be organized. I am very serious about this one. I do not want a robot, I want someone who learns and grows with the business.
  • Self Motivated: We have a lot of moving parts (being a fitness studio) so we need people who will look for solutions on their own.
  • Outside the Box thinker: One of our key core values is “Getting outside your comfort zone”. This has to resonate with you and you must be able to think outside the box.
  • Bonus Skills: Sales and writing skills, graphic design/creative skills to help create flyers etc.

  • Communicate Clearly and Effectively: Structure your training sessions and client interactions with positive energy and clear instruction. You need to be comfortable with the communicating clearly with people face to face in both a group setting as well as a private setting.
  • Educate and Coach clients through workouts: Education is the key here. Our goal is to provide each client with more than just another workout. You will be responsible for facilitating a training session while educating the client on why they are doing what they are doing. Foundations of anatomy and program design are key.
  • Perform Initial Consultations: Must be able to present well and build rapport with clients, meeting and understanding their needs so as to build a program for them to sign on for. Initial consults include Body Composition testing (will train), assessing needs, problem solving and ability to present a solution and complete the sales process.
  • Teach Group Workouts while being able to modify as needed: You may be performing group workouts, however must be able to quickly modify formats, exercises and session layout dependent on those attending – especially those with specific injuries/issues.
  • Execute Training Program: Be comfortable with writing and following through on a written exercise program. Many of our clients have corrective or rehabilitative programs. You need to be comfortable with the primary postural issues and be able to execute a training program. * We will train on this but the more knowledge the better!
  • Perform Monthly Re-Assessments and Accountability/Goal Setting Sessions
  • Attend regular team meetings and have a “WE” attitude. Our success is the sum of our parts.
